As you will experience, one of the main reasons that Colombia is such a nice country to visit is it's people. The Colombians are friendly, helpful, easy going and relaxed!

After Brazil, Colombia with over 36 million citizens is South America's second largest population. Also, since the level of education is very high in Colombia, you will find your conversation with the Colombians to be very pleasant. Like the rest of Central and South America (with the exception of Brazil), Spanish is the official language, but many of the business class and younger generation speak some English. If you speak or understand Spanish, the good news is that the Colombian Spanish is among the clearest and easiest to understand in the world.

The Colombian population is made up of the following ethnic groups:
58 % Mestizos, a mixture of European and Native American race
20% of unmixed European race
14% Mulatto, a mixture of black and European race
4% Black
3% mixed black-Native Americans
1% of unmixed Native Americans
